This book, Design of Spray Dryers is the third in the Raw Materials Research and Development Council Monograph series. This will serve as a guide for detailed design of spray dryers in an easy- to- read format.
Spray drying is a process in which a liquid or slurry is dried by breaking it up into 50-150llm droplets by means of an atomizer and then propelling the drops down or across a chamber through which hot air is blown. The droplets lose their moisture very rapidly while still suspended in the drying air and the size and uniformity of the
droplets are determined by the atomization process.
