The survey revealed that Kaduna State produced more maize than anymaize producing state in Nigeria between 2000 and 2004 as presented in table 5. Yobe state has the lowest production for the same period. The average stock per year between 2000 to 2004 as presented in table showed steady increase from 2000 to 2003. The projections for 2004 have generally shown significant increases over 2003, which may be attributed to increase in production.
