Aluminum/bauxite

About Aluminum/bauxite

bauxite is a naturally occuring, heteregeneous material composed primarily of one or more aluminum hydroxide mineral, plus variuos mixure od silica, iron oxide , titanium, alumina-silica, and other impurities in minor or trace amounts. the principal aluminum hyroxide mineral found in verying propotions with bauxites are: gibsite Al (OH)3 and the polymorphs boehmite AlO (HO), and diaspre. Bauxite is the primary of aluminum bauxite formation.

lateritic bauxite are found mostly in topical countries . they are fourmed by laterization of various silicate rocks such as granite, gneiss, basalt, syenite, and shale in a wet tropical or subtropical climate. the formation of bauxite demand intense weathering conditions in a location withe very good drainage.  this anables the dissolution of the kaolinite and the precipitation of the gibbsite. the aluminum hydroxide in the lateritic bauxite deposite is almost exclusively gibbsite.

Location: Adamawa, Benue, Baraba, Kebbi, Sokoto, Ekiti, and Cross River States.

Uses: used as an aluminum and in the manufacture of refractory products, automobiles, airplanes, packaging, transportation, bottling and canning, building, electrial and electronics components, industries, etc. it is the main or of alumina to make aluminum and also used in the production of synthetic corundum and aluminous refractories.

Uses

Bauxite is aluminium-rich ore that is used for aluminium production (the metallurgical bauxites) and for production of refractory materials, chemicals or cements (the non-metallurgical bauxites).
